Making Money With Niche Websites

How would you like to setup a small website that would cost practically nothing to run, but could continue to produce semi-passive income for years to come?
I know that may sound too good to be true right now, but trust me it isn’t. I know it works because it’s the method I have chosen to focus on as a secondary (and one day primary) source of income. I own a small but growing stable of websites that continue to earn money while requiring very little maintenance once they’re rolling and there is nothing stopping you from doing the same.
I know you probably have a few questions, so let’s see if we can answer them right off the bat.

Exactly how passive is this income?

I’m not going to lie to you. It does take a good deal of elbow grease to build a profitable website, especially when you are just learning your way. But once you get it down you can do it pretty quickly. And once you build up traffic to your site and get it ranked in the search engines you can see a consistent flow of traffic with very little follow up work.

How much money can I make with a website?

That’s not an easy question to answer. There are so many variables to consider that I can’t really give you a reliable estimate while keeping a straight face. It all depends on what niche you choose to focus on, how strong the competition is, and how hard you work on it. Some sites may generate a dollar or two a day while others could make their owner a millionaire.
Are you going to create the next Facebook or Twitter? Probably not. But that’s fine. I’m perfectly happy churning out small sites that make a few dollars a day because I know the more sites I build the more my income will grow.

How long will it take before my site turns a profit?

Another tricky question. Again, the only honest answer I can give you is, “It depends.”
If you choose a niche without much competition and you can get some traffic flowing to your site right away, you could start seeing a trickle of AdSense clicks almost immediately. But unless you’re planning to pay for early traffic it will probably take a couple of months before you start seeing any significant progress. (Sorry, but I told you I was being honest didn’t I?)

I’m not a techie. Can I really create a website all by myself?

You bet! In the early days of the internet you practically needed a degree in programming to build even the simplest of websites.
